Who Are You and What Have You Done With My...Blog?

Okay. I'm curious.

Sorry to say it, but I am.

I've had people from college visit my blog, and I've had people from church visit my blog.

I've even had perfect strangers over here. And they are now "Followers"!

It's just so interesting to me--the blogging world. I mean, I read a lot of blogs. It's something I enjoy doing. I learn a lot about nutrition that way. I relate to other mommies (of many little people). I get to know people who don't know me. Sometimes we get to know each other. It's interesting. A way to make the wide world just a little smaller if only while I'm sitting here with my laptop.

Anyway. I'm curious as to who's really out there. Some of my followers have yet to introduce themselves. Some folks are just plain lurking, which is fine, I suppose. But I'm curious who you are!! Can't help it. I'm feeling...

just a little...

like I need some answers, people!!!!!

So here's what I'd LOVE to see happen.

And y'all want to humor me, don't you?!

Wait--don't answer that.

Okay.

How about this?

Followers: You guys leave me a comment on this post. It doesn't have to be much. Just maybe tell us how you found this blog. Or why you stick around. Or something about yourself we may not know. Like how do we know each other? Or DO we? Whatevs. It's up to you!

Lurkers: Come out of hiding. Don't worry. I don't bite. (Usually.) Become a "Follower." I promise it won't say anything about your strength of character. (You know? "Be a leader, not a follower." Blah, blah, blah.) We'd be happy to have you join us! And besides, there just may be something in it for you pretty soon. (HINT: Another giveaway is on the horizon.)

Twitter/Facebook/Buzz/Other subscribers: Leave me a comment telling me who ya are and how you get my posts. ('Cause I'm interested. Remember?)

What are our connections?

Did you know me WHEN?

Did you get to my blog through somebody else's blog?

Did you grow up with me?

Have we met in real life? HOW?

Do we have mutual friends?

Do we have similar interests and/or lives?

Do you bring my mom (and thus ME) deer meat? (Thanks, Sug.)

Did you get here after Googling something? Did you find me after I found you first? I WANNA know!!!!!!!!

And really. Don't think that just because I see you once a week that you don't need to comment. (Ahem......Krista.) Even if I KNOW you read my blog (Ahem......Krista), just this once I'd like to see a comment SHOWING me you do (Ahem......Krista), especially if you are a family member or a close friend (Ahem......Krista). For posterity's sake, at least. Kind of like a LIST of people (Golly, I love lists...) so I can remember you were here. For when I'm old and losing my mind.

Wait--that's now.

Errr...guess you guys better hurry it up, then.

  1. I'm here! I read every time I see you've posted on facebook. So, we're facebook friends, I met you at RCC, you've brought me food and I tried to bring some to you but had to bail because my children got ill, I don't bring your mom (thus YOU) deer meet, I didn't find you through a google search or other site, you didn't find me first, we do have similar lives b/c I homeschool and have 4 children as well, we have mutual friends b/c we both go to RCC, I didn't grow up with you, and we don't really know each other very well..yet (but I'd like to!). Does that answer all your questions? LOL

  2. Soooo..no, I didn't know you during your diaper days. And I didn't know you during your elementary years, or even high school or college years. I come to your blog because I'm married to your baby brother, and because, insane as it is, this is my way of keeping track of you and your wonderful little family. Because I miss our late night convos around the Carpenter family dinner table, and because somehow, I feel more connected to you guys this way. If I don't say it enough, or maybe haven't even told you myself, but have told numerous other people, I love your blog and your creativity. I really look up to you, sis!! So there..are you humored yet??:). Love you guys!!

  3. I have no idea how I found your blog. I am one of those perfect strangers! Don't you get all giddy when someone you don't know follows your blog? Maybe that's just me.
Anyway...you just sent me a long overdue bag of laundry detergent. Up till now I was happy that I didn't have to do laundry!!! JK. Thanks for the note. I loved it. And, seriously, I'm too lazy to go back...how much do I use for a load of about 18-12 diapers? :)
And one last thing...I think we had the same dress in high school. That black with white top number was either what I wore to prom or my sister wore. I can't remember. :)

  4. I met you when you were still in utero. Your mom could no longer hold me on her lap and tell me I had turkey eyes--you were there. I loved you and marveled at your pierced ears. I spent days and nights at your house when you and I were young, playing with your toys, trapping your cat in drawers, and finding secret spots in your family's furniture store. You knew how to count to ten when I could count it in French, and I liked that. For years, the tiny door leading from your bedroom to the attic was a keystone of my dreams, leading me to unknown rooms. I remember telling you stories and that helps me remember I have always been a writer. And you are, too.

I have glanced back a few times but have'nt left any comments yet...no reason as to why. I usually like to comment though.

  8. Interesting post. I think you probably know that I found your blog through Sarah's project 365. I like yours the most because,....well..... I just relate to your lifestyle. I am personally perplexed about the blogging world. I only started mine so that my children could see what we were doing in China while we were there. But then I found this whole new, strange world. Personally, lately I have been feeling like it is just another place to feel like I'm not "in" or I find a lot of people preaching at me. I've been wondering if the Lord wants me to quit for these reasons. But I must say, that I really like your blog because it isn't preachy or stuffy. You simply share your life with others and I like the example that you are living. God Bless!

  10. I found you throught Project 365 with Sara. I like visiting your blog, because I feel like we have somethings in common, homeschooling, multiple kids (3boys/1 girl), doing some homemade stuff, healthy eating, etc.
I've also tried the Next Blog button, but I did NOT find you! Probably won't be doing that again!

  11. It is me...your other sister-in-law, Kimberly. :) I check my google reader at least once a day to read all the blogs I follow. Yours is a required read! I love checking in to see what my family is up to! I rarely have time to get on the phone, and unfortunately, we don't get to visit much. :( But, I love keeping up and turning to you for all my Mommy advice on diapering and such!
We love you guys and miss you!

I just randomly click on my friend's blogs comments sometimes. I like to make new friends and I like to encourage other women in the Lord.

  14. Alright. I'm posting for my friend Gus (aka "Sug"), the Deer Meat-Bringer. He had trouble getting the comments to work for him. So he emailed me. I'm just going to copy and paste:

"I promise...I tried to post on your blog...but couldn't get google to work/reset/whatever it's supposed to do! Anyway, here's what I was going to post...it probably wouldn't have gotten past the censors anyway! ;) I'll have to work on it later when I don't have work-work that I'm supposed to be working on. Yuck. Love ya knot head!

Let's see...don't I know you from somewhere? I get this strange feeling I know you from somewhere...oh yeah! I ran into you at Disney World one time, long, long ago (yes, Lori, it was 18? 19? years ago?) Anyway...love ya girl! Think about y'all often! An awesome family...learned so much from all of you and love you dearly!
    Gus (Sug)"

  16. LOL! Too funny! I love these 'bring out the lurkers' posts. I'm thinking I should do that very soon. Anyway... I'm here because you left me a comment on my Project 365 post and I'm finally getting off my lazy arse to say Hi!

    Ok, I'm officially following now!

  17. I don't know how I found your blog and I'm not sure now how I found you. Pretty sure you sought me out at BSU one day because you knew I would bring joy to your life (or I sought you out because you looked like the most non-threatening of those crazy Baptist kids). Anyway, then you became my (extremely petite) Big Sis and the rest is history. Oh yeah, and then there was the time I shared a suite with you and a ferret, but that's another story for another day.

  18. Came across your blog accidentally, and liked it, so I followed you... today... yay! Good luck with the blogging!

  19. Good Evening,
My husband clicked the "Next Blog" button thinking it would get him to one of the regular blogs we follow. So I read over his shoulder and decided to comment. Enjoyed today's post. I'll read more later.

  22. Lori, you're funny. I found your blog on your fcebook profile. After reading it for the first time, I was hooked. You're such a funny writer (you and that Heather girl, both.) I'm glad to kind of reconnect in this funny world of blogging, and you're definitely inspiring in so many ways.

  23. Hey, I came across your blog through blogger, and I just thought, WOW, she has the cutest kids. Then I started reading, and I thought, WOW, she's really funny, too - and totally helpful and informative. So I became hooked. I hope we can meet someday.

P.S. Actually, Lori and I have known each other for around 12 years. We used to hang out a lot, and I was even the matron of honor in her wedding. But then she got mad at me for moving 30 miles away. And then she had 4 kids and got too busy for me. And she never wants to hang out or let me help her or anything. But I still love her anyway. Her and her blog.
