I decided to make a blackberry cobbler today from a "kit" I purchased through our local farmer's market. I believe I've mentioned my fascination for all things blackberry and cobbler-related. I was curious to see what the berry farm considered a good cobbler.
I was largely unimpressed. I'm sorry, but this was no cobbler! Tasted fine, but it was basically a dump cake. Instead of dumplings, which everybody knows is the most necessary ingredient (hello?!), it had a spongy cake sitting on top of the berries. Shame, shame, shame.

I consigned forty items in the Rhea Lana sale. Katelyn and her sisters came and sat while the three youngest kiddos slept, so Noah and I could go unload and tag everything at the sale. He was such a big help to me!

I recently posted a review about Alice.com. Well, one thing I probably should have mentioned...their shipping box makes an awesome toy for children of all ages!

Paul had his very first SOLO trial today. It was a lot of work, and he was gone by 6:30 this morning. Finally, he called at about 6:00 p.m. while we were on our way home from guitar and ballet lessons. His words: "Let's go celebrate!" Woo-hoo! Win #1! I'm so proud of my man. So we met him at Larry's Pizza for an impromptu dinner. And celebrate we did!

My mom and I went to Rhea Lana's early half-price sale for consignors. Paul kept the kids. 'Cause you can't do that kind of shopping with kids. There's far too much thinking involved! I decided ahead of time I would buy Saylor nothing but dresses because that's all she ever wants to wear, and it's not a battle I believe is worth fighting. I mostly stuck to it, but I just couldn't resist a Valentine outfit by Gymboree for next winter. (I'm hoping by then she'll be okay with cute red pants with hearts on them!)
In addition to the clothes pictured above, I found a pair of $2 Nike tennis shoes for Gabriel (perfect for his fat foot) AND a pair of tap shoes for $1.50. Go ahead and say it: "You've lost your mind, Mama!" I couldn't help it. I was a tap dancer growing up, and I knew she'd adore them.

What a gorgeous day outside! Sun shining. Cool breeze. Spring is most definitely in the air (at least for the moment). We got out and played quite a while. Atticus is just learning about playing outside, since last spring he was just five months old. There are things he's not too sure about yet. Like walking in grass or leaves. He's really not 100% positive that he CAN walk in them. And then there's the drop-off from the patio to the yard. A tough thing to maneuver when you're just a toddler. That's when big brothers come in...to give a helping hand.
Big brothers are good for things like that.
That was my week. Thank you, Sara, for hosting our project"!
I have the BEST recipe for blackberry cobler. remind me and I will send it to you!
ReplyDeleteyea for consignment sales!!!

Great pics this week! Your celebration looks just like that - and the pic with the tap shoes!!! Too adorable, definitely a good buy! What a sweet family!
ReplyDeleteHi, I've never thought to scroll to see if there was a comment form, and just found it by accident today. Silly me. LOL I'm glad I did too, because it gives me the chance to say that you have adorable children!
ReplyDeleteYour little girl reminds me of mine. My girls went through the "I only want to wear a dress" phase too. I was kind of sad when it ended.
What a great week! Congrats to your hubby!! Isn't consigning great? Super way to unload and pick a few "new" things up.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the cobbler. I had no idea you were such a blackberry officianado! :) And, LOVE, LOVE the tap shoe picture. I would say that was $1.50 well spent!
Have a super week Lori.
Congrats to your man! Fun to have things to celebrate as a family.
ReplyDeleteThe tap shoe pic is the sweetest thing...there is no denying the emotion there.
Also, some serious sweetness is big brother watching out. Super sweet that he notices and cares.
I'm totally amazed again at your party-throwing skillz! I may hire you as a consultant when my next one comes around.
I loved the three smiley-squinty eyed dimpley faces. Such sweet natural expressions, no fake smiles.
ReplyDeleteI 'visited' Saylor's BD tea party and loved everything about it.
My granddaughter was born exactly 13 years earlier to the day. I was encouraged by the fact that you did a REWIND. Better late than never.
What was the hubby SOLO all about?
It may not be a cobbler, but it still looks yummy to me!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat little girl wouldnt love shoes with big ole bows on them? Heck, I still love shoes with big ole bows on them! haha!!!
Boxes - the best gift for little ones... let their imaginations flow!
Lots of great photos!
ReplyDeleteThe one of big brother helping little brother just melted my heart into a puddle :-)
Yep, I think she likes the shoes. LOL
Wonderful job capturing your week!!!
Oh my goodness helping brothers pull at my heartstrings!! I love watching my own help each other, I think it means I am doing a good job..ha ha. Love consignments shops I think that was the only place I shopped when my kids were little. They just outgrow things too fast.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures.
You lost me at blackberry cobbler. Oh. My. That brings back wonderful childhood memories of picking them and the smell of cobbler baking.
ReplyDeleteOkay... now I'm off to read the rest. ;)
Hehe... kids and boxes go hand in hand. My girls love playing in large boxes... still.
Seriously. Your baby boys holding hands... nearly brings tears to my eyes. Moments like those are priceless.
Little ones always make for cute pictures!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

We do much on consignment. Buy & Sell. It's SO much fun -- it's like a secret I don't want people to know about -- isn't that terrible??!
Your photo & story of the "cobbler" have inspired me to make a good cobbler myself. I may have to get Sara's recipe!
Have a great week!
