"Week Five" without a camera. (And counting...)

This is a common scene on Sundays right after church. The kids love seeing their little friends and "hanging out" while the parents catch up.

Saylor helped make our pickles today.
And then we went to a Travs baseball game with friends.
They got to play on inflatables there. Noah was so sweet to help little Atticus climb the big one!
Gabe got himself a boo-boo and wanted to show it. Ha!

We're going back to school like everyone else! Well, not exactly. But our curriculum arrived this week and we are all set to begin the new books. (Follow the above link to see our back to school "portraits.")

Gabriel had more speech testing done this morning. They tested him back in April and said he tested out and no longer qualified for services. I was irate, frankly, because they tested him against other three-year-olds a month before he was turning four! I knew if he had been tested against four-year-olds (which he was about to be) that he would still qualify. So I sort of/kind of pitched a fit, pointing out how unfair that was. They agreed and we decided to retest now. Sure enough...he qualifies! So he'll be back in some kind of therapy this year. Exactly where and what is still to be determined. Sweet little guy is just BARELY behind others his age for articulation. I was busting my buttons with pride when the tester came to get him, because he just went with her all by himself, chatting all the way! We've come a long way from not speaking at. all. :)
And in the meantime, we all thoroughly enjoyed the now very familiar waiting room.

Tonight I helped with a baby shower for a church friend.

The kiddos were especially excited to see that I brought them leftover cupcakes from last night's shower for dessert tonight.

Saturdays are veggie-shopping days. Among other things...
Boys and wheels and a garage that...wow...really needs some work. Yikes.
Noah plays with the boys down the road almost daily.
Okay. Want an update on the camera?? Well, it's being sent off. And it will be about four weeks before I'll have a quote as to how much it's going to cost. Four! More! Weeks! And THEN they'll fix it over TWO MORE WEEKS!! As far as I'm concerned, that's b-a-a-a-a-a-a-d news!! Especially since we're getting set to go on vacation in just a few weeks. I'm heartbroken. Glad it can be fixed, though. Glad about that. Now I've just gotta figure out how to photograph our trip to Colorado with something other than a cell... Any ideas, ye fabulous photographers at Project 365? Anyone? Anyone?

Hello! What a very beautiful blog!
ReplyDeleteI should let you borrow my little point & shoot. It's better than a cell phone (although not as good as your other camera).
ReplyDeleteGreat pics this week despite the handicap. That Gabe is just SO cute with his boo-boo - what a precious boy.
great pictures looks like a fun week. glad you put up a stink about the speech testing. My oldest didn't speak until just before he turned 3 and he was tested out at 4. He also started reading just before he turned 4. I have so much positive praise for the year and half of speech he had. Glad to hear it is helping your son too
ReplyDeleteI have a Nikon Cool Pix you are welcome to. I don't use it. I would be glad to send it to you for you to use until you get yours back. I loved the first day of school picture of the kids. Loved those muted colors
ReplyDeleteWe bought a little handheld video camera (our old one took the little discs and is considered bulky nowadays) that also takes still shots and that you can plug into a usb to download for around $120 at Walmart. (the still shots won't be awesome) I love it because it is so small and it's waterproof, so we took it down the waterslide shooting video. It's a Kodak play sport. Only good advice if you need a new video camera like we did, though. We went to Colorado for vacation this summer, too. The kids and my scared of heights husband loved the trip up Pike's Peak. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics!!! Loved them all; thanks for sharing your week
ReplyDeleteKim
