Mother's Day
Okay. I'll admit I didn't take these pictures ON Sunday. Mother's Day itself was a little weird due to the fact that Paul had to go to the office to do final preparations on a HUGE case. We did, however, eat lunch at my favorite pizza hangout. (See what a cool mom I am? I requested pizza; not some frou-frou restaurant. Cool, I tell ya!) As soon as we got home, Paul headed out and then didn't return until nine something. But back to the pictures. This was my rockin' Mother's Day gift.
BEFORE
AFTER
Notice anything different about me????????!!!
(Poor Atticus. It was awful bright out there for his baby blues.)

Our sweet friend made us a Chicken Pot Pie and this was the top!! Is that not something?

Today I was so excited to have our Digi-Block Demonstration Counter up and running again. (Our hundreds place wheel had a broken plastic part, so it wouldn't turn.) After contacting customer service for a part, they sent me a new wheel free of charge! Don't you love it when that happens?
Oh! Digi-Blocks are a math manipulative I fell in love with when I went to the NCTM conference one year (long, long ago) as a second-grade teacher. They're especially great for teaching place value and regrouping. If you live near me and are homeschooling your child and are needing some assistance on the whole regrouping thing, let me know! (Maybe we'll do a video demo sometime. That'd be fun!)
And then...these cards came in the mail today...from my adorable niece (top) and nephew (bottom cover).
Preciousness like this always makes me cry. That and hormones.

Today the kids wanted to have a picnic outside for lunch. So we did. It was windy. The picnic didn't last long since the food kept blowing away.

We had a make-up soccer game tonight instead of soccer practice. I know I've said this before, but Noah is quite the scrapper. No fear.
We all worked up such an appetite after the soccer game, we headed to Cracker Barrel. There we had a little game of checkers.

I cleaned the kitchen ALL morning long today. Scrubbed cabinet doors, organized, and mopped. And then I learned never to start the water to running in the sink (that "grammar" was so Southern, y'all...) for the mop water and then walk off to check on the kids, because inevitably there will be a dirty diaper waiting for me. And once I get that changed, I'll need to take the two-year-old to the potty, and then by the time I remember to walk back to the kitchen...
......uuuummmmmmmm....
...I'll probably find that the water is all the way up to HERE!!!
But Atticus had fun with it.
Oh! And then I caught these two sitting on Nana's chaise lounge. Noah wanted to read Saylor a story. And she wanted to hear it! It made my heart happy to think how Nana would have loved to know her chaise was being used this way.

The other day Noah came in after playing with some kids in the neighborhood. He told me that he and another kid had planned to have a Bible study on the corner on Saturday at 1:00. I was thinking, "Oh, really. Mm-hmm. I bet." He said, "We're going to study Matthew." I laughed so hard (inside). I really didn't think that either one of them would remember.
But they did.
Is that not the cutest?
What a great week! And I love your Mother's Day gift - I'm starting to think that I got jipped(?)!
ReplyDeleteToo precious of the kiddos reading together and the Bible study!
We always love a sink full of bubbles - well, maybe not so full!

the bible study? well, that is awesome!!! so what did they learn in Matthew? :)
Wow, your friend is extremely talented when it comes to making pies and the tops!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet is that picture of your two children reading together. I love that!
I also find it so precious that there was a bible study planned and followed through on. Says alot about their upbringing. :)
I know what you mean about not leaving the water running...if you go check on things, there WILL be something to deal with. The soap on Atticus is cute.
ReplyDeleteThe two boys doing bible study? Wow!
You are so pretty, even with an iPhone (yay!) pic.
Love those pix of you! Beautiful. And congrats on the iPhone. You're gonna love it. The girls love to 'share' mine too. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful pie!
Love a good hands-on manipulative. We used Mathusee this past year for Gracie and it has helped things 'click' better.
Our kiddos love picnics too. So fun.
Noah is quite the lil' soccer player! ;) Great shots.
Okay... seriously, the nearly flooded kitchen was worth that shweet bubbly cheek picture! Too Cute!
What a fun week and thanks for the recipe...yum! Great Job Noah on a great soccer game and my boys love Cracker Barrel too! Love the Bible study at the corner...so sweet! Have a great week!
ReplyDeletewhat an enjoyable week you had...and such cute kids!
ReplyDeleteNice iPhone! I am sure you will put it to good use!
ReplyDeleteLove Cracker Barrel!!
I'm glad your kitchen didn't flood, but the bubble picture is precious.
I think more people should do Bible study on the corner with their friends!!
Have a super week!!
What a nice mother gift. Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteI have to tell you that accidentally leaving the water running does NOT stop when your kids get older. I still get distracted and come back to water everywhere . . . 3 times this past week. :-(
ReplyDeleteLove the bible study time-precious.
Birthday blessings!
That last picture is a keeper!
ReplyDeleteLittle ones always make for interesting and sweet pictures!
Blessings

ReplyDeleteLove that TOPPING on the chicken pot pie! Love the Bubbles on Atticus... love the SCORING soccer shot!!! Love the two reading together - PRECIOUS! Looks like a great week!
Looks like you had a pretty great week! I wish I had gotten your Mother's day gift....since Jonathan got his, I have been bugging him and telling him that his iPod needed to be mine now (finally handed to me this morning).
ReplyDeleteThere are so many great little learning games for the kids, but (WARNING) you might never get to truly enjoy it yourself once they get a try! :)
Oh. My. Goodness. Love the last picture, that is so sweet.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy "viewing" the rest of your week but that last one touched my heart. Thanks for sharing!
