Project 365: Week 33 "celebrating and sweet surprises"

"Week Four" without a camera.  Boo! Hiss!

Sunday, August 7, 2011

Today Paul and I celebrated our 12th anniversary. We literally had to cram it in, but we are so thankful to Paul's cousin who came and stayed with the kids. To celebrate, we had a 12-course progressive meal all over town. We shared and only ordered one thing between us at every stop, but we were still stuffed!

The courses were in these plastic eggs.

A couple of our favorite courses were...

Cheese course:

Dessert course:

(Okay, you got me...these were the courses we actually remembered to photograph...Ha!)

In retrospect, I think it would have been a better idea to ask for half-orders to share or purposefully only eat half and then take the leftovers back home for the kids. Sheesh!

Then we took our traditional trip to Wal-Mart. For little kid necessities. SO very romantic.

We made it back in time to watch one of Paul's favorite movies, aptly named.

I even found a drink at Whole Foods called "12." I was so excited about that! But because it was in the fridge chilling, I totally forgot about it.  :(  Do y'all ever do that?  Out of sight, out of mind, I guess.

We had friends playing with us today.

Saylor. Just like me when I was a kid. Playing teacher.

Oh, and Noah had to write a "friendly letter" last week, and he chose to deliver it to a friend down the road. Today he got a response. He was so excited!

Paul ordered a weed-eater part and it came in today. Would you just look at what was on the envelope?! Wow. Pretty cool.

Today I got in the attic, as it was the first day in a very long time that it was tolerable to be in there, thanks to yesterday's rain. I pulled out old curriculum and sorted through some of my stockpile for things to use this year.

I even found a few toys which had been stashed during a house showing a long time ago. Somebody was extra happy to see his old friend again.

Lately, the kids have been obsessed with old Flipper episodes. We had our Friday night pizza in the living room tonight, so we could have family night with Flipper.

The three bigger kids got to attend a fun church activity this morning. The team that just returned from Costa Rica presented the same program to our kiddos that they presented to the school children in Costa Rica. It was lots of fun.

Ugh. My photos are so subpar. Hopefully, Sara and the other Project 365ers won't kick me out.  ;)

  2. I think your pictures are just fine!!

I want to hear more about this dinner. It sounds like a fun idea. was there a restaurant named in each egg or just a course and you had to find a rest. that had that?

  4. What do you mean subpar? Your kid pictures are always wonderful. I look forward to their precious faces each week. Now...you know you are going to have to do a post on the 12th anniversary dinner extravaganza. I think that sounded like the neatest thing. Can't do it in my town...only have a three restaurants. :-(

  5. Great anniversary idea!
Don't think it would work for us, our next is 42! However, we could stretch the celebration out 42 days, just sayin'... ;)
I enjoyed your subpar photos. I say we keep you in the circle one more week ;)

  7. I LOVE the moving feast idea, but we'll be married 21 years in December - I think we might explode! LOL

I agree with whoever said that your kids just always look so happy (except for that memorable time you had them lined up for a lecture - LOVE that picture).

  8. Your pics are a recording of your life, not a contest to see whose are the bestest. Still, I'd miss my camera too if it were out of commission, so I feel for you!

I like your idea to go twelve places to celebrate. It sounds like fun and filling!
