Project 365: Week 45 "adventures on our own"

Sunday, October 30, 2011

Today was pretty crazy. To start with, Paul left yesterday for a several-day-long trial in Dallas. (I didn't share that last week, just in case there was an axe-murderer reading my blog. Ya know?)

So I was on my own with the kiddos for church today. AND I was singing, which meant we had to be there earlier and the kids would have to sit by themselves for the music portion. Gabriel decided he'd join the band and me about half-way through.
(At least he's the quiet one. He just sat on the floor by my feet.)  ;) Wish I had a picture of that!

After church we grabbed some lunch, ran an errand, and then went to a birthday party at a local pumpkin patch.

Noah spent the afternoon with a friend instead.

Today we all got hair cuts. (See picture of Gabe on the slide above, in case you're wondering why.)

The kids were shouting, "Daddy!" for this picture. We sent it to his phone so he could see their
new looks.

And then we had a simple supper, watched a fun, new movie on my computer, and then camped out in my room for the night. No candy. Just family fun and homemade ice cream. And they were all smiles.
If you happen to be in a candy quandary, read my post on what to do with the leftovers.

We have acorns coming out our ears over here. The kids are obsessed. Because of this, we have learned that there are little grub worms living in MANY acorns, and they bore holes through the shell and come out. If they're left in a pouch like this, they just die before getting completely out.
(It's pretty gross, if you ask me.)

We went to see replicas of the Nina and Pinta--two of Columbus's ships. They are touring, as a sort of floating museum. Go here to see where they'll be next.
(If you're in Little Rock, they'll be here through Monday. So hurry!)
Actually, you should ALL visit their site. Read about how they were built. It's amazing.

Note the way Gabe is posing in this one:

Gabriel got  to play ball with Poppy again today. Definitely one of his favorite pastimes.

Well, I failed miserably at my goal of blogging during the week. Being without a husband until Thursday night, and being sick on top of it, proved to be a bit too much for me to handle. Sometimes the blog MUST take a back seat. By the way, my camera's in the shop once again. It started acting up for no reason whatsoever. And I am thoroughly disgusted. They gave me a loner this time, but it's sadly inferior. And has a mind of its own. *sigh*

Anyway, I'm sneaking in a little late at Sara's. I guess it's better than a lot late. Can I get an 'Amen'? Hop on over there to check out everyone's week. Peace out.

  2. Love the little pig and the canoes. The kids look cute with their haircuts. But heavens I'm tired after reading about all the stuff you guys did!

  3. Sorry to hear about your camera. At least you are not completely cameraless. :(

    The pig picture was adorable!

How fun seeing the replica ships! This past summer we happened to see 200 year anniversary of Dave Thompson's Brigade that mapped (uh I think that's what they did, it's been a bit) the Columbia River. They floated the entire river in canoes from Canada down through the Washington/Oregon border on to the Ocean. It was so much fun to see them and hear about their jounrney up to that point.
