Project 365: Week 28 "watermelons and weddings"

Sunday, July 8, 2012

After church we headed over to one of our farmer's markets for a "Watermelon Fest."

Some of us even dressed for the occasion.

Project 365: Week 20

I hope you will bear with me right now through the design changes here. I've been sick of my old layout for quite some time. So I finally decided to get to work on it, but it often takes time and effort to customize things. So until the dust settles...  ;)

Here's my week:

Mother's Day

This is a dumb ol' cell phone pic (actually, there are quite a few this week), but I just couldn't resist posting this one. Gabe's looking mighty dapper this morning. I wanted my handsome boys dressed up for me today. ;)

After naps we all went shopping for a few clothing items for me. (Happy Mother's Day!!!) But it seems that the little boys found themselves something as well.

And that night after supper, Gabriel saw some spots **cough, sputter, cough** on our kitchen floor and just went and grabbed a rag and started wiping them up. No one told him to! I gushed and gushed and told him that was one of the best Mother's Day presents ever!

Had to pick up a few things from Wal-Mart late tonight and while standing in line, saw this:

I just had to take a picture, because...for real?!

Also, just had to share this photo I found on Paul's phone. This is the sort of thing that went on in the Book Room during all our tornado warnings a couple of weeks ago.

iPhones do help pass the time, though.

Today, in case you missed it, was "Sister's Day."
Indeed it was.
See?

Yah. It's a loverly, loverly day. One thing it definitely means is that there will be pink ribbon strung all over your house. It's really quite fascinating.

And not just in one room either! You get miles and miles of pink ribbon! Okay. Not miles and miles maybe, but square feet and square feet of it.

Tonight we were all in the living room together, singing and discussing things, when Atticus suddenly crawled over to Saylor and sat in her lap. Which. she. ate up.

Thursday, May 12, 2011

Paul took JUST the big kids to court with him this afternoon. (Even I've never been to court with him!) Always a treat to see Daddy in action.

Not the best pic, but I wanted them to have something to remember it by.

Our sweet and lovely (and single!!!) friend kept the younger kiddos tonight. They LOVE to hear her read stories!!

While they were having a good time, Paul and I took Noah out on a date. He even got to choose the restaurant. I had to sneak a picture, but he caught me!

Then we went "looking" at a newer toy store here in town, bought him a book, stopped at Best Buy to play the giant iPhone, and then took him for ice cream. He said it was the best night ever.

And, oh! At dinner I spilled sauce on my white shirt. Isn't it always the white shirt that gets it?? Paul laughed at me the whole night because it was so obvious. See?

He said it reminded him of this:

Today we got up ur-ligh in the morning to make our food runs. Got some good deals at Farmer's Market.

It was an all-around nice family day. No obligations. Just fun.

And that's 20 weeks. How did 20 weeks happen already?! I mean, the half-way mark is right around the corner! I'm linked up at Sara's for Project 365. Over and out.

Local Buying TODAY

I just want to ask my Little Rock peeps to please go by Pulaski Academy from 2:00 to 4:00 TODAY to help support our local farmers by purchasing some of the delicious fare at the West Little Rock Farmer's Market.

What you'll see there today:

North Pulaski Farms (certified organic) - yellow squash, peppers, cucumbers, and a limited amount of Kentucky Wonder green beans.

Kellogg Valley Farms (chemical free) - all kinds of greens (mustard, turnip, kale) and acorn, zephyr, and butternut squash.

Barnhill - turnip greens, melons, pears, eggs, purple hull peas, and okra.

3 Buddies - fresh mushrooms.

K-Bee Honey - local raw honey.

Sounds like dinner to me.

You can saute cubed butternut squash in coconut oil.
And apparently, those of you who like mushrooms MUST try the ones from 3 Buddies.

Business has been slow at this market, and the farmers are considering not selling anymore at this location. Come ON, people!!! If you live in WLR, you should be out there!! It could NOT be more convenient! Hope to see you there...

Project 365: Week 10

Sunday, February 28, 2010

I decided to make a blackberry cobbler today from a "kit" I purchased through our local farmer's market. I believe I've mentioned my fascination for all things blackberry and cobbler-related. I was curious to see what the berry farm considered a good cobbler.

I was largely unimpressed. I'm sorry, but this was no cobbler! Tasted fine, but it was basically a dump cake. Instead of dumplings, which everybody knows is the most necessary ingredient (hello?!), it had a spongy cake sitting on top of the berries. Shame, shame, shame.

Monday, March 1, 2010

I consigned forty items in the Rhea Lana sale. Katelyn and her sisters came and sat while the three youngest kiddos slept, so Noah and I could go unload and tag everything at the sale. He was such a big help to me!

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

I recently posted a review about Alice.com. Well, one thing I probably should have mentioned...their shipping box makes an awesome toy for children of all ages!

Gabriel certainly thinks so!

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Paul had his very first SOLO trial today. It was a lot of work, and he was gone by 6:30 this morning. Finally, he called at about 6:00 p.m. while we were on our way home from guitar and ballet lessons. His words: "Let's go celebrate!" Woo-hoo! Win #1! I'm so proud of my man. So we met him at Larry's Pizza for an impromptu dinner. And celebrate we did!

Thursday, March 4, 2010

My mom and I went to Rhea Lana's early half-price sale for consignors. Paul kept the kids. 'Cause you can't do that kind of shopping with kids. There's far too much thinking involved! I decided ahead of time I would buy Saylor nothing but dresses because that's all she ever wants to wear, and it's not a battle I believe is worth fighting. I mostly stuck to it, but I just couldn't resist a Valentine outfit by Gymboree for next winter. (I'm hoping by then she'll be okay with cute red pants with hearts on them!)

Friday, March 5, 2010

In addition to the clothes pictured above, I found a pair of $2 Nike tennis shoes for Gabriel (perfect for his fat foot) AND a pair of tap shoes for $1.50. Go ahead and say it: "You've lost your mind, Mama!" I couldn't help it. I was a tap dancer growing up, and I knew she'd adore them.

Hmm...I don't know. Do you think she likes them?

Saturday, March 6, 2010

What a gorgeous day outside! Sun shining. Cool breeze. Spring is most definitely in the air (at least for the moment). We got out and played quite a while. Atticus is just learning about playing outside, since last spring he was just five months old. There are things he's not too sure about yet. Like walking in grass or leaves. He's really not 100% positive that he CAN walk in them. And then there's the drop-off from the patio to the yard. A tough thing to maneuver when you're just a toddler. That's when big brothers come in...to give a helping hand.

Big brothers are good for things like that.

Come to think of it, they're good for lots of fun things.

That was my week. Thank you,
Sara, for hosting our project"!

Project 365: Week 8

Sunday, February 14, 2010

Bleh. We had to stay home sick today. No one felt good. It snowed, so even our CHRISTmas tree from a couple of years ago (now planted in our back yard) is having a hard day. Poor thing.

But it was still Valentine's Day. So that's good.

Monday, February 15, 2010

Daddy was still sick and stayed home, but he mainly did just a whole lot of resting. I, however, ran a few errands. (I saw my chance, and I took it!!) But then I proceeded to break my (dish) soap bottle. I'm so upset. This was our second one!! Maybe I should stick with the classic plastic squirt bottle sitting out on the cabinet.

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Daddy came home from work and then turned right around and left again for a meeting.

How dare he??!!

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

I made two lasagnas. One is for a family from church and the other was for our monthly women's fellowship.

Thursday, February 18, 2010

After Academy we brought a friend home to play for a bit. He and Noah went into the "clubhouse" and played a rousing game of checkers.

The babies formed their OWN club.

And the "princess" was in her own little world, as usual.

Friday, February 19, 2010

Well, I was hoping to get a picture of men working on my fridge, but long story short--they didn't end up coming today. So instead, I've got a picture of a pillow. One, lonely throw pillow I bought as a bridal shower gift. I'd have bought the two she wanted off her registry, but I could only find one. And I thought for sure I'd be able to go to the other Target and find a matching one. So we traipsed off to the Benton Target tonight, fed our kids peanut butter/honey sandwiches for supper in the car, and showed Dumbo as the "on board" movie. But. No such luck. So...back to the drawing board.

Farmer's Market Pick-up. Buyin' local, y'all!!

Okay. That's it. Somehow I'm still remembering to snap at least one picture a day. So, yay for me!
