Project 365: Week 32 "major leaguers and major accomplishments"

(This is "Week Three" without a camera. Good thing we have cellphones!)

Saturday, July 30, 2011 (continued from here)

Well, you'll be happy to know we didn't just climb the walls (literally--really, follow the link) at home all day. After spending most of the day trying to decide what to do, we finally headed out to Conway to go swimming at Poppy's house late, late that afternoon.

And Daddy barbecued--the evidence of which can be seen on this little one's face.

Sunday, July 31, 2011

This morning, after we spent the night in Conway, Paul and the two bigger boys headed out to St. Louis for a Cardinals game! Noah wasn't sure he wanted to go. He said he just wanted to hang out and swim at Poppy's. We assured him he would change his mind once he got there. (Sometimes he can be such a little homebody. NO idea where he gets that from...ahem.)

Gabe was thrilled!

Meanwhile, Saylor, Atticus, and I DID hang out at the pool. All morning!

And then I treated them to lunch at IHOP. ***shivers***
Yes, IHOP. ***cringes***
And yes, lunch. ***heaves a little***
But their Nana used to take them to lunch there. And the big kids remember it. Saylor's been begging to go there for months now. Paul and I are not IHOP's biggest fans (I'm being kind here), so I seized the opportunity to get it out of her system while half of the family was away.  ;)  Nana would have been proud.

Meanwhile, the boys were checking in to their hotel,

shopping for gear,

spotting Pujols,

and cheering the Cards on!

Monday, August 1, 2011

This morning Saylor and I shucked corn at Poppy's.

Meanwhile, the boys saw a little bit of St. Louis.

Going up the Arch

Marriott at Union Station (their hotel)

The Fudge Factory.

Eating out.

They definitely had a great time. One of the sweetest things Paul's ever put on Facebook: "Gas $2.65 a gallon; tickets $85 a seat; hotel $80 (thanks Priceline); ballpark food's effect on a child's vital organs: unknown at this time; getting to give my kids the same gift my dad gave me: worth every penny." Awww!!

Those left behind swam some more. Look how big Atticus is!

And we delved into the delicious watermelon we picked up at Collins Round Mountain Orchard.

Making a Davidson sandwich.

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

Went shopping at Wal-Mart for a bit. Turned around and discovered I had a mini-teenager in the bunch!

When we got home we did a little school. Gabriel spent some time drawing his initial on the white board. He figured out how on his own. I certainly didn't teach him. (When would I do that?!) Precious, smart boy!

Friends came to play and have lunch with us today. So much fun!

Friday, August 5, 2011

Our church served breakfast to the teachers of a local elementary school early this morning.

And then the kids and I had errands to run.

It was during one of our stops that Atticus fell on his face and ended up with a fat lip and a very, very sore tooth! As I told our dentist, these things ONLY happen on a Friday. Which means that I am in panic-mode trying to find out whether or not my child's baby tooth is going to fall out over the weekend or not.

The highlight of the day was this great "find" for five bucks at a garage sale down the road! (Hint: It's not the ball, the cute kid, the clothing ON the kid, the plastic wagon in the background, or...the house.)

Saturday, August 6, 2011

Here we are taking part in our state's sales tax-free holiday on anything "back-to-school" in nature.

And that's it for this week. Big news: Tomorrow, Paul and I celebrate twelve years of marriage! Well, we're going to try...to squeeze in...a pseudo...mini-celebration anyway. (Maybe.) *sigh* Life is seriously busy these days. And I'm off to order the last of my homeschool curriculum! (So excited!!) Wish Noah was as enthused as I.  :)  I guess I can't blame him too much. WHO can be truly happy about school when it's hot as blazes outside?! Anyone started school already? How's that going for ya?

As always, this post is linked up at Sara's Project 365.

  5. I am such a homebody too and it's rubbing off on my son, especially if he fears he's going to miss out on something else. But he would have jumped at the opportunity to go on that trip! That's a trip they'll remember forever!

  6. I'm glad your guys had fun at the game, but I'm just sorry they had to watch the Cardinals (says the Reds/Braves fan - heh).

Looks like another great week in the Davidson house - but I'm with Noah. Can we just put school off another month - please?
