Project 365: Week 30

Sunday, July 18, 2010

I often have to twist Noah's arm to get him to sit still and pick up a book, because he has a million other things he'd like to be doing, and...he says he doesn't like to read. That always makes me laugh. Because just look at him now. Engrossed. He didn't even notice me taking this picture (and consequently run away), and you know that's something!

A Room With a View

I tackled the armoire this week and won.

Sometimes I make concoctions for supper. I come by it honest. (Right, Dad?) This one is a creamy corn chowder with sweet potatoes. I used what I had. No recipe whatsoever. The kids lapped it up. Success!

Friday, July 23, 2010

Today we pretty much did a lot of this.

Peach picking. It was hot, but beautiful. And oh, so delicious!!

This is today's haul. Minus my bar of blackberry goat's milk soap and our lunch: a few peaches, half a dozen eggs, and some butter.

That's five bags of peaches and nectarines, a pastured chicken, three dozen eggs, a gallon of raw milk, raw cheese, raw sweet cream butter, spaghetti squash, a gargantuan watermelon from Tupelo, AR, purple hull peas, raw heavy cream, and a pint of fresh figs. Yummmmm!!!

Thanks to Sara for graciously hosting "Project 365." And in this HEAT, too!!!!!!!  ;)

  1. Yummy, yummy, yummy . . . I'm a little distracted by all the food!
What a great idea to do a muffin tin meal - we'll have to try that one!
I love the boy reading! My boys always groan when I give them their "free reading" book, but end up going through it in a day or two!

  3. looks like a great week!!

I have to tell you that the lady in my pictures that we had lunch with serve us a blueberry tea with stevia, is that how you spell it. I LOVED it. She grows it in her garden. I immediately thought of YOU! :)

  4. Sara, you spelled it right. That's funny you thought of me. :) Did you know stevia is supposed to help with weight loss? Blueberry tea sounds wonderful!!! And I don't even like tea! Ha!!

  6. I am a firm believer in "It's what we had!" That is my standard saying at dinner almost every night. Who need a recipe when you can have yummy corn chowder with sweet potatoes! I hope you took notes while you cooked!
