Project 365: Week 36

This week's post is late because we've been gone to Family Camp since Friday evening. (And I didn't have time prior to leaving to get this thing finished. I know you're all shocked by that!)

A day of blunders, apparently.
Paul took the big kids for a very long walk during nap time today. And while they were gone, we had a huge downpour!

It didn't seem to bother Noah too much.

And then here's what happens when SOMEbody starts the popcorn to cooking on the stove and leaves the lid off the pot. Oops! (And it wasn't me!!)

We needed to run by the library today (among other places). My kids think the library is so great. I always wonder if the other patrons think my KIDS are so great, though, because Davidson children just can't seem to contain their excitement nor control their noise level. And they're almost never ready to go when I am. The fact that we were leaving, the very bright sunshine, and their ultra-sensitive eyes made them very grumpy at me for trying to get a picture at the library.

We had "Brookies" for breakfast this morning. You may remember I posted this recipe here. Well, I've been writing a wee bit for another blog (a food blog), so the recipe got re-posted in a new spot. (Check it out!)

We went to my LEAST favorite place on Earth today. (That would be Wal-Mart.) But it had to be done. We had several things we needed for our upcoming weekend events. Anyway, when we got home and I started unpacking the bags, this is what I found in the bottom of one of the bags. (In case you can't tell, that is part of a hot dog bun broken into about three pieces. A WHITE-bread hot dog bun, so it definitely wasn't OURS! We don't even eat hot dogs!) How does that even happen??!

Tonight I went in to sing to Saylor and say goodnight, but Atticus beat me to it. Ha! He was sitting in this rocking chair (mine from childhood) just singing his little heart out to Saylor.

After Paul got off work we headed up to Family Camp for the weekend. Got there in time to unload, get settled, and then have S'mores and a wonderful devotion time around a beautiful (albeit smokey) fire.

Today was our first full day of Family Camp. Activities galore! Tractor trailer rides, swimming, boating, playground fun, "Scream Swing," zip line, BB guns, archery, bike riding. You name, we did it. (Or so it seemed.)

After our morning session with speaker, Steve Watters, we adults had a little free time. So Paul and I learned to play "Spoons," ironically with our friends, the Spoons. (Seriously.) I realize it's sad that we didn't already know how.

Tonight's devotions were held out on a ridge with the most spectacular view of the sky. I loved how the crosses were silhouetted against the reds, oranges, and yellows. It's at times like these that I think how much I'd really like to invest in some great lenses and get serious about photography.

There were plenty more activities today to wear us down till there was nothing left of us. You should have seen it! The children fell asleep in less than a minute for naps and bedtimes!! It was crazy!

Today was interesting, though, because when we got down to the pond, Noah was already out in a paddle boat. I couldn't see who he was with until they got back to shore. It was a girl. (That's right. Noah said later, "She just hopped in the boat with me!") They worked for the longest on some half-baked plan to build a sand tower on the bank and then somehow knock it down with the boat. It didn't work, but they had a good time trying. Then. (And this was the moment I knew there was something to all this.) She asked Noah...to ask me...to take their picture together. (Wuh-oh.)

Camp was over a little before lunch today, so we headed toward home and swung by Conway to have lunch with Poppy, Aunt Donna, and Uncle Aubrey. Saylor was in a game-playing mood. First Mexican Train, then Skip-Bo. (Notice how she's always got some sort of "bling" on?)

Whew! Looooong week. At least NEXT week will go up quickly. (Pardon the blogspeak.) Right? Thanks, Sara, for keeping the link up! :)

  5. Love the library pictures - they're so cute! That hot dog bun piece defies explanation - blech! And spoons is a good way to get jabbed in the hand with a fingernail - or maybe that was just at MY house LOL.
