Project 365: Week 12

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Paul, the resident meat-cooker here at The Davidson Den, slow-cooked some grass-fed goodness for two solid days and made us delicious barbecue sandwiches with homemade coleslaw for supper tonight.

School shots:

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Speaking of school, this is one of the things about our house I've really loved: our attic.

It's got walk-in access right off our schoolroom. Translation: lots more storage space for manipulatives, games, and puzzles. (Not to mention the ease of getting out the Christmas decorations!)

It's certainly handy.

Besides, I have organized all our toys into bins and only allow the kids one thing at a time. Because that's all we can handle right now.

When we want to play cars, we get out the cars. When we're done, we clean them up and put them back in the attic so they aren't in plain sight to tempt us to drag out everything in tarnation and leave the mess for someone else (namely, me).

The excitement today was all about finding tracks running alongside our back porch. Seems somebody's been prowling about!

Today was pretty crazy. Still without a car (thanks to my little mishap), my friend Liz came over this morning to stay at our house while I dropped Gabriel off for speech therapy. Then right when I got back home, my friend Ann dropped two of her kids off for me to watch while she went to a hair appointment. Then I left Liz in charge again to pick Gabe up from therapy. It took some major planning on my part to line all that up. (Maybe I'm just too easily overwhelmed with out-of-the-ordinary situations, I don't know.) But I am so thankful for Liz helping me out.

The boys, who are very much alike, bonded (more) over LEGOS. (I always have trouble with that word. Is it proper to say "Legos" or is it "Lego"?)

Amazingly, I still managed to get our dinner in the crock pot, and it turned out quite yummy. (Trying a new recipe. See my menu plan for the link.)

Our neighbors across the street invited the older kids over to play in their jumphouse today.

And.........

she's all better now.

After showing our house (crazy, crazy times), eating out for lunch, and taking naps, we made our somewhat-annual trip to the Wye Mountain Daffodil Festival. Always a treat. Click here for last year's video montage. (It's also on my sidebar for this mommy to have easy access, because I watch it on a regular basis--it makes me so happy. Really. It's worth it. Go ahead. You're almost done here anyway.)

:) Shocking, isn't it?! Actually, there's a special section where visitors are allowed to pick flowers for $1/dozen. We just had to get this funny picture. Let me assure you--Davidsons, for the most part, are law-abidin' citizens. Ha!
Be sure to check out all the Project 365 participants at Sara's.

  1. OK, I don't like cole slaw, but that almost looks like mac n cheese, which I DO like. Hmmm. And your dinner later in the week looks pretty fabulous.

We ended up renting a car when mine died on Saturday - we work 70 miles apart so we just couldn't figure out what else to do :)
